The Heller Manus-designed mixed-use office and residential development going up at 181 Fremont already has a spot in the record books, and it hasn't even reached street level yet. The developer behind the project, Jay Paul Company, has announced that the contractor in charge of building the tower has successfully installed a 263 foot construction shaft, which is the deepest in San Francisco history. For the next few months, crews from Level 10 Construction will proceed with building the foundation for the 54-story skyscraper, which is set to clock in at 802 feet when completed in early 2016. In the meantime, those anxious to see the tower rise can drool over some impressively realistic animations and renderings available on 181 Fremont's official website.
