Tucked just behind the under-renovation 100 Van Ness is 50 Fell Street, a charming historic building that will soon be home to San Francisco's first LePort Preschool Campus. The building will obviously be extensively renovated prior to the arrival of the school's first teachers and students in fall of 2014. LePort, whose curriculum is based on the Montessori educational approach, is already well established in Southern California, with locations throughout Orange County as well as in Los Angeles and San Diego. Should all the required permits get approved, SF's Leport School will be just a stone's throw away from International High School and potentially the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts, bringing yet more youthful energy to Hayes Valley and the rapidly-gentrifying Mid-Market neighborhood.
