Safeway to Expand, Build Residences in Outer Richmond

New, 3 comments

Plans to expand the Safeway store at La Playa and Fulton in the Outer Richmond were updated at a general public meeting this week. The store is currently planning to expand from 40,000 sq. ft. to nearly 60,000, as well as build 40-45 residential units and a 2-story parking structure capable of holding 200 cars. What's not included in the new plan is the current recycling center that is located on premises. The facilities will most likely be replaced with a bank and coffee shop, both standard in larger Safeway stores. The project is currently undergoing environmental review, and barring appeals should be complete in 2017.
