Nob Hill Masonic Center Project Gets Appealed Again

It seemed like the battle over the Nob Hill Masonic Center was finally over, but nothing could be further from the truth. As you recall, the Masonic Center has been hosting events like concerts and cultural performances since 1958 and wants to make some interior alterations to allow for bigger (and more) events, but hit a roadblock when neighbors protested the increase in noise and traffic. There appeals at every step of the process: two different appeals of the project approvals, an appeal over lack of environmental review, and now an appeal of the certified Final Environmental Impact Report. There'd been negotiations and compromises in attempts to make both sides happy, but it seems to no avail. The Board of Supervisors scan of the appeal documents is a garbled mess, so it's hard to decipher what the qualms are, but there's sure to be more fireworks at tomorrow's BOS hearing.
