Going Green(er)

In an effort to green the city in the most literal way, San Francisco brass have a plan to plant 50,000 new street trees by the year 2033. That represents a gain of nearly 50 percent on the current 105,000 street trees located throughout the city. The plan also calls for the city to once again take over caring for nearly all trees located on sidewalks near residences, a chore that was passed on to many home owners in 2007. [SF Examiner]
