The Other Bay Bridge Lights

The western span of the bay bridge isn't the only side to have an impressive lighting display, at least according to the Contra Costa Times. The new eastern span features 48,000 LEDs, spread among 1,521 fixtures along the length of the bridge, with each bulb designed to last 10-15 years versus the 2 year life of commonly used sodium bulbs. For those of you who haven't traversed the bridge at night, be prepared for a roadway "illuminated in a soft white glow from the rows of white free-standing light poles."
