Now that the Bay Bridge is finally open, it's officially time to start discussing the next possible muti-agency, over-time-and-budget project for San Francisco to focus on: a Bay Bridge western span bike path. Discussions are already underway to install a "hanging bike path" from the existing bridge, part of a proposed $1 billion makeover. Former Mayor Gavin Newsom is on board, stating "It would be spectacular. It would complete the entire region with a pedestrian crossing, not just a bike path." [SFGate/photo via Orin Zebest]
