Big Victory for Airbnb

A New York court-imposed fine of $2,400 has been successfully appealed by a man who used the popular website Airbnb to rent out his NYC apartment. The news is a big win for not just the individual, but for San Francisco-based Airbnb. "We are continuing our work to clarify the law and ensure New Yorkers can share their homes and their city with travelers from around the world," stated the company's head of global public policy. Airbnb has drawn the ire of many cities, San Francisco especially, for violation of short term rental laws usually reserved for hotels. [San Francisco Business Times]
