What $3,000/Month Can Rent You Around SF

New, 3 comments

Welcome back to Curbed Comparisons, where we scour the San Francisco's rental listings to see what your monthly rent will get you across the city. This week, we're investigating apartments listed for $3,000/month. You've got quite a few options at this price on the rental market right now -- most of them are one bedrooms, and they all have some quirks. You tell us what looks like the most bang for your buck.

? In Ashbury Heights, this $2,895/month one bedroom offers classic San Francisco charm - with some quirks. The cabinets (while plentiful) and counter look like they're less than a foot deep, requiring you to provide your own island or side table for any usable workspace. The bedroom also looks pretty tight. On the upside, there's a beautiful decorative fireplace in the living room, a clean and bright bathroom with a window, and plenty of closets. There's laundry in the building and additional storage space available for $150/month. The building is also pet-friendly, but at a cost: $500 extra deposit and $100/month in "pet rent."

? In SoMa, this contemporary one bedroom is going for $3,000/month. At 664 square feet it's pretty small, but it makes decent use of the space. The bedroom is tight but has an alcove space in the window, and the kitchen opens to the living room galley-style, with limited counter space but plenty of built in cabinetry. Additional perks include garage parking, in-unit washer and dryer, elevator, working gas fireplace, free internet, and an Ethiopian restaurant at street level. No pets.

? In Russian Hill, this one bedroom is going for $2,950/month. Situated in a unique Mediterranean-style building with views of the bay, this unit is definitely a find for the price. The living room is bright and features a working fireplace. The kitchen, on the other hand, is small and dated, but has a walk-in pantry. The bedroom - while romantically lit by a chandelier - doesn't have any windows. No pets and no parking.

? In the Marina, this one bedroom is located almost directly across the street from the Marina Green, and is asking $3,100/month. It's only 650 square feet, but what it lacks in space, it makes up for with garden access. Both the living space and bedroom are both small but open up to the lush garden space. There's also a bonus room with a closet. The kitchen and bathroom are a bit dated and there's carpet throughout. In-unit laundry is a perk, but there's no parking and no pets allowed.

? In the Outer Richmond, this two bedroom, two bathroom is going for $2,900/month. There's parking included, in-unit laundry, a balcony, hardwood in the living room and kitchen, and it's located directly across from the beach. The bedrooms look dark and have dated carpet, but did we mention it's across the street from the ocean?
