Construction To Begin Soon at Former Hayes Valley Farm Site

New, 2 comments

Site clearing and preparation has been underway for over a month on what is set to become another Avalon Bay apartment community. Located over the site of a former Central Freeway on-ramp, and later the Hayes Valley Farm, the large 182 unit mixed-use project will consist of four separate buildings near the intersection of Oak and Octavia streets. Designed by three architectural firms, the hope is to give the impression it's not one self-contained complex, but a more naturally evolving collection of structures. It's a mix of studios and one- and two-bedroom units that'll be located over ground floor retail. There will also be three main courtyards. Two roof decks will complete the outdoor space, but the real attraction will be the extension of Hickory Street to the length of the block from Octavia to Laguna. The outcome will be what is dubbed a "living alley" for residents and guests alike to enjoy.
