Berkeley Mini-Dorm Crackdown

Although normally known for having very student-friendly housing policies, Berkeley is cracking down on dorm conversions of single family homes, or mini-dorms. One regulation makes adding bedrooms past the fourth to require an administrative use permit. The new tougher regulations are in response to neighborhood complaints of parking problems and increased noise levels. One upset neighbor stated "There's noise, parties, the police come, there's no manager on site, and the landlord is usually not nearby." [SFGate]
