San Francisco's been keeping a pretty close eye on Nema, the massive 754-unit apartment complex under construction at the corner of 10th and Market. The building is less than two months away from opening, so we thought it best to give you a sneak peek of what to expect from the model studio that was shown last week.
Located on the 16th floor of the South Tower, the 470 square foot model studio offers a view into the "sleek modern finishes" that Nema advertises: polished concrete flooring, heavy-duty lacquer cabinets, stainless steel appliances, and an in-unit washer/dryer. While small, the model offers sweeping, south facing views of the city. Not all units will boast the same views, but most above the 10th floor will have at least a decent view of the complex's urban terrace, a.k.a. the 3rd floor roof deck. Roller shades are standard in all units, as are solid core doors to minimize any sound intrusions. Bathrooms are outfitted with soaking tubs and Hansgrohe faucets.

While any modern building can polish its floor and buy fancy-sounding European fixtures, it's the tech side of Nema that's supposed to catch the eye: keyless door entry, fiber optic cables, and zone-programmable thermostats are standard in all units. In common areas and the two 24-hour lobbies you will find digital device charging stations, digital touchscreen messaging boards, and Wi-Fi coverage. Strategically placed sound systems and televisions equipped with Apple TV allows residents to play directly from their portable devices. Wanna have your car waiting for you when you arrive in the lobby? Just send the valet a text.

We know, even with all these amenities studios are still starting at $2,300, beyond the budget of most people. But wait, Nema will be renting 22 studios for $939 and 16 1-bedrooms for only $1,066. These Below Market Rate units are subject to restrictions of course, the most severe being an income for one person between $28,170 and $38,950. Interested? Click here for more details.
