Any idea what's happening with the now vacant DeLano's Market on South Van Ness? Last March we told you about plans to divide the existing building at 1245 South Van Ness into two halves - one side for bargain grocery chain Fresh & Easy, and the other for a TBD tenant. The project was approved and building permits were issued for interior improvements this February, but so far there hasn't been any movement. Not surprising, since other proposed Fresh & Easy chains have been stalled ever since parent company Tesco has been looking to sell the chain due to "lackluster growth." Tesco hopes to sell Fresh & Easy as an operating business, but so far their pending locations seem to be on permanent hold. The good news is they have no plans to close their existing stores. As we reported in the July, Whole Foods has recently expressed an interest in acquiring the Fresh & Easy chain, as has LA-based Wild Oats looking to resurrect their brand since selling to Whole Foods.
