HAYES VALLEY—Proof that Groupon is getting desperate: one of their sales reps threatened to sic all of his Yelper friends on Sauce's page unless they bought in. They refused and leaked the e-mail; he got fired.
RUSSIAN HILL—Neighborhood gem Luella announced that after nine years in business, they're shutting down. The good news: they're being replaced by another interesting project, Stones Throw, from the Fat Angel team and some Michael Mina alums.

THE MISSION/FISHERMAN'S WHARF—Serious Eats did a comprehensive blind tasting of 12 SF sourdough breads. Turns out Tartine's is the best—and in a blow to tourists everywhere, Boudin's is the worst.
