Add Skype to the list of tech companies with wonky workspaces that feature a healthy mix of bright contemporary furnishings and quirky details like fake grass and possibly too many seating arrangements. There's also the standard game room, complete with foosball and billiards. The space, which is the company's headquarters, was designed by San Francisco-based architecture firm Design Blitz. It was a vacant warehouse that the architect stripped down to the basics: the ceiling was removed, there are very few walls, etc. In lieu of traditional board and meeting rooms, there are "Skype pods," which are essentially boxes plopped down throughout the space. Other design details include decorating the board room with flavoring sticks from vintage wine barrels.
