A new organic foods option, known as Green Skies Vertical Farm, has popped up at 739 Channing Way in Berkeley. The farm's founder and chief operator, David Ceaser, opened the farm after realizing that shipping food from farms in California's Central Valley to farmer's markets in the Bay Area is "incredibly wasteful," noting that even after the long trip foods are not guaranteed to be sold. Ceasar plans to operate the farm year-round, and add chickens to his selection of organic options. [Berkeleyside/photo via GSV Farms]
