Checking in on 9th Avenue Mixed-Use Project

New, 2 comments

From the Curbed inbox:Do you have any details about what is going in on 9th Avenue between Lincoln and Irving? I heard it will be a La Boulange and some apartments, but the business portion looks too big for a La Boulange. As we reported last year, the 1266 9th Ave project will include four-story mixed-use building with 15 dwelling-units and 5,650sf ground floor retail developed by Prado Group. Despite some neighboring business opposition (they called it "too much like Starbucks," ironically before the coffee giant acquired the local chain), the Planning Commission approved the formula retail for the location. Despite our reader's disbelief at the huge size of the ground floor retail, floor plans show it will in fact be completely occupied by La Boulange. Building permits for the restaurant space were issued yesterday, and judging by the photos, work is well underway. No new renderings of the café space have been released, but we're guessing it'll be pretty swanky.
