A group of state legislators think the name "Willie L. Brown, Jr. Bridge" has quite a ring to it and are pushing to rename half of the so-called "Bay Bridge"—or more precisely, its the western span between SF and Yerba Buena Island—after the former SF mayor and former Assembly Speaker. The resolution, introduced by Assemblyman Issadore Hall III at the urging of the NAACP (and not Brown, apparently), will honor Slick Willie's iconic status and ability "to bridge all kinds of people" (get it?) and needs a simple majority to pass. - Laura Tepper [SFist/photo via Josh Sullivan]
