At today's Supervisors hearing, Mayor Lee will be answering some pre-submitted questions from the Board. Supervisor Avalos (D11) plans to grill the Mayor about rising housing rents in SF, which we all know have gone completely bananas. He's concerned that folks in rent-controlled housing are vulnerable to displacement with the increased pressure on their landlords to find some way to evict them and triple their rents. More specifically, he's worried tech-friendly economic policies have created "one-sided development" and wonders if the Mayor's office is going to do anything about the increasing rents, rate of evictions and displacement. We'll let you know how the discussion goes.
