San Francisco's newest toy, a $70,000 bike barometer, has counted over 54,000 riders since it was installed at Market and 10th streets on May 9. Bicycle advocates are hoping the data will show a need for improved conditions on Market Street, but reports that the barometer isn't properly registering every rider causes speculation. "We've heard from some people that when a large group of riders goes past the counter, it does not register all of them." [SFGate]
