2nd Street Office Tower is Back With a Few Tweaks

Back in 2010 the Planning Commission approved a project at the corner of 2nd and Howard Streets for a 26-story, 350-foot office tower with restaurant/retail on the ground floor. The original was designed for 222 2nd Street by New York-based Thomas Phifer and Partners with local firm Heller Manus, but has since been tweaked by Gensler and needs some new approvals. Above the 5th floor, the building is now set back, and above the 17th floor there's an even more substantial setback. The whole thing will be wrapped in overlapping, full-floor glass panels. There'll also be 8,600 square feet of publicly-accessible open space. If the changes are approved by the commission, construction can finally get going.
