The 33,000 sq.ft. at 975 Bryant Street may soon become an Orchard Supply Hardware store. Currently the Pacific Sales appliance store, the project won't change much to the building, but it will alter the Bryant Street façade by installing transparent windows within existing window bays that are now opaque. The Planning Department is cool with it, saying the transparent windows will help improve the pedestrian experience. The whole thing has to go before the Planning Commission because Orchard Supply Hardware counts as formula retail. Not too much to harp on since it's just turning one store into another, but people around these parts like to get up in arms over formula retail, so don't consider anything a done deal.
