An under construction Safeway store at College and Claremont streets in Oakland has ceased activity due to a permit stoppage by the city. According to Oakland, Safeway did not fulfill its agreement to meet and discuss design changes with neighborhood groups before applying for a permit. Safeway has since begun meeting with multiple groups, including Friends and Neighbors of College Avenue. [Berkeleyside]
