Greening the Mission

San Francisco's focus on greening the city may have bypassed one important area: the Mission. According to an MIT report, the neighborhood has the poorest health and highest pollution of any neighborhood in San Francisco. The report also states that the best way to combat this is with more open space and by planting trees and plants to help clean the air. City brass has already committed to planting thousands more trees this year, and also plans to issue more permits to those wishing to break up sidewalks in exchange for adding greenery. [SF Examiner]
