La Scuola, a K through 8 Italian immersion school founded in Dogpatch a little over three years ago, now enrolls 130 students and has just leased a building at 735 Fell Street, just two blocks south of Alamo Square. The school is a candidate for International Baccalaureate certification and could well become a viable competitor for International High School in Hayes Valley, which remains the sole institution with an IB program in San Francisco. With a growing number of wealthy families moving to the Bay Area, and limited space at popular International schools like IHS and the Lycée Français, the soon-to-be centrally located Italian School will no doubt experience steady growth and recognition.
