As of last week, the breathtaking Moraga Mosaic Steps aren't the only attraction in Golden Gate Heights. After years of campaigning for fundraising and hard work from artists and community activists, the Hidden Garden Steps at Kirkham and 16th Avenue have finally been unveiled. The color scheme on the finished product isn't as outrageously bright as the renderings depicted, but the mosaic tiles still bring a pop of color to a neighborhood too often oppressed by Karl the Fog. Initial project organizing began back in 2010 and the piece required $300,000 to get from vision to reality. Though official fundraising is over with, the San Francisco Parks Alliance is still accepting donations to fund maintenance on the steps.
