The Mission is Still Really Expensive Despite Increased Building

Mission Local has gathered data on the Mission's increasingly high rents. The blog points out that despite the opening of new buildings like Vara, supply is not keeping up with demand. Prices are staying high, and new buildings are practically rented out before they even open. Mandatory seismic upgrades of soft-story buildings, which are required to be completed by late 2020, will put even more pressure on local housing as many residents will be displaced, at least temporarily, while the seismic upgrades are being completed.
