While technically under construction since November, the 32-story apartment tower planned for Transbay Block 6 did not have its official breaking ground soiree until now. The Solomon Cordwell Buenz-designed project will have 409 apartments split among the main tower, an 8-story building on the adjacent corner, and townhouses between. The mid-rise tower will be reserved for Mercy Housing tenants while the rest will be market rate. Designed in a sustainable manner and seeking LEED Gold certification, the complex will include "sky parks, solar thermal paneling and a resident-controlled cross ventilation system- which negates the need of air conditioning all together." Expect occupancy in December 2015.
