Board of Supervisors Talk Canines with Mayor Lee

New, 2 comments

At today's Board of Supervisors hearing, Mayor Lee will stop by for a tete-a-tete with the Supes. One of the topics they'll cover is the National Park Service's proposed restrictions on dog access at the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (which in San Francisco includes Fort Funston, Crissy Field, Ocean Beach, and other properties). Supervisor Weiner has really positioned himself as top dog in this battle, as he authored a formal resolution opposing the restrictions back in 2011 which the board passed unanimously. Now Congresswomen Jackie Speier and Nancy Pelosi have voiced their concerns about the restrictions and the public process, so the Supes want to team up with the Mayor to encourage the National Park Service to alter the plan to take into account the needs of dog owners and walkers.
