Progress is being made on SoMa's newest park, the South of Market Skatepark and Dog Park, located under the Central Freeway on either side of Stevenson Street, and close enough to the Mission that you could say its there as well. Soil prep to support the foundation is currently underway on the east of Stevenson, which will become the 17,000 sq. ft. skatepark. The west side of the park is still awaiting demolition of the current surface lot, after which a new dog park will be built on about a third of the area, roughly 10,000 sq. ft. The remaining portion will return to parking, albeit with upgrades. Completion of the project was originally set for early 2014, but expect some delays with construction only recently getting underway.
