A new 36,000 sq. ft. playground opened at the San Francisco Zoo this weekend to the delight of the many children in attendance. The new play area, named the Elinor Friend Playground, is broken up into three separate areas, based on world "bio-regions." The new equipment is made of durable plastic and rubber, replacing the antiquated wooden and metal structures that were previously in place. [SF Examiner]
