Cathedral Hill Hotel Getting a Visit From the Wrecking Crew

New, 2 comments

Demolition of the massive Cathedral Hill Hotel has begun. The building is essentially being demoed from the inside out, so the only action currently visible is from Franklin Street where the back of the original hotel was located. The large wings along Geary and Post streets will remain standing as long as possible to help contain the destruction debris. The entire demolition process is expected take about eight months to complete. For those who forgot what all this space is for, the site will become the future home of a state of the art CPMC hospital, the centerpiece of a $2 billion+ plan that also includes medical offices and a rebuild of St. Luke's Hospital in the Mission. The Cathedral Hill building will contain 304 beds and max out at 226 feet at its highest point. Additional medical services will be located at new facilities directly across Van Ness Avenue.
