Fire Damage

The City's repair bill for the Rim Fire's damage to its water and power infrastructure has arrived, and it's not pretty. The damage to SF's water and power systems, hydroelectric powerhouses, and powerlines, plus the preventative re-enforcements needed to protect roads and hills from winter's rains, will cost an estimated $36.3 million. The Federal Emergency Management Agency, however, deemed the damage "not serious enough" to merit federal disaster relief aid, so the city and state may get stuck with the entire bill. Luckily, they have insurance. [SF Examiner]
