At about 10:15 this morning, an outbound KT-Ingleside Muni train departed a station in the Castro full of passengers, but missing one crucial element: a driver. The Chron reports that the train "pulled away from a station without its operator Wednesday after the driver got out to fix a door and possibly forgot to set the emergency brake." A passenger noticed that the driver was not on-board and frantically hit the emergency brake. The director of transit for the Muni Railway insists that passengers were never in danger, as the trains are actually run by computers. Meanwhile, the driver is on paid leave and being tested for drugs and alcohol. [SF Gate]
