89-year-old former president Jimmy Carter will be visiting Habitat for Humanity's newest East Oakland project this Monday. The 12-unit townhouse development has been the victim of several crimes, including a robbery at gunpoint on Tuesday. Despite the problems, local residents are still positive on the project. "If he comes and sees how it really is, maybe there'll be an improvement," Lopi Laupati said of Carter. [Insidebayarea/image via habitat.org]
