Welcome back to Curbed Comparisons, where we scour the San Francisco's rental listings to see what your monthly rent will get you across the city. This week, we're investigating apartments listed for $4,200. This is about $200/month above the average rental price of a two-bedroom apartment - so what do your options look like with that little bit of extra? You tell us what looks like the most bang for your buck.
? In the Mission, this brand-spankin-new 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom is asking $4,195/month. The kitchen—while windowless—is decked out with designer appliances, including a huge fridge/freezer and in-unit laundry. There's hardwood throughout, nice finishes in the bathroom, and a Kickstarter-funded grocery next door. Pet friendly and parking is "available" (so it's probably extra).
? In Russian Hill, this convertible 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom is asking $4,250/month. The unit is a full-floor and has 6 rooms total - including a formal dining room, an office, and a sunroom that converts to a second bedroom—spread over an estimated 1450 square feet, with Bay views from most windows. The kitchen has some quirk with an antique stove, and there's carpet in several of the rooms. There's a roof deck and there's in-unit laundry. No pets or parking included, but there is parking available across the street.
? Also in the Mission, this remodeled 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom is asking $4,195/month. It's got some Victorian charm with bay windows, but the rooms look a bit small. The kitchen has high-end appliances and finishes, and opens to both the living area and to an eat-in area that also contains the in-unit washer/dryer. It's located one block away from Dolores Park and it's pet-friendly, so you can actually enjoy having a park so close by. No parking.
? In the Sunset, this top-floor 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom is going for $4,200/month. The unit is pretty dated—the countertops and backsplash in the kitchen are old tile and the appliances are not stainless. One of the bathrooms has been remodeled, but the other one looks dated also. The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom, and the other two bedrooms boast spacious closets. There's parking and the unit is located on Judah, so you may not even need it with the convenient access to public transit.
