The very busy intersection of Haight, Gough and Market streets is set to get some upgrades beginning this January. The hope is to provide a safer pedestrian experience while streamlining Muni's 71 and 6 lines through the intersection. The first block of Haight will essentially become a one-way street, as the only eastbound lane will be dedicated for buses. Pedestrian refuges will be added to the Market Street islands as well as curb ramps, bulb-outs and adjusted crosswalks throughout the rest of the intersection. Construction is set to overlap with sewer improvements delaying completion of the work until late next summer.
