The rubble you see above is the remains of a single-story garage building that previously occupied the lot at the corner of 10th and Mission streets. What will rise in its place is a 14-story residential building designed by Heller Manus. The new tower will contain 117 units (18 of which will be set aside for affordable housing requirements) over ground-floor retail with underground parking. No word yet on whether this building will be rentals or condos, but it will join Nema and 1400 Mission in adding over 1,000 housing units along a stretch of 10th Street just over a block long.
