Silicon Valley Dethroned as Start-up Capital

New, 1 comment

The Atlantic has new data showing that Silicon Valley has been officially dethroned as the nation's start-up capital by the city of San Francisco (not surprising) and Manhattan (surprising). The amount of venture-capital dollars funding start-ups in Manhattan is double that in Palo Alto, and superseded only by the dollars being poured into San Francisco's urban center. Silicon Valley investor Paul Graham's 2006 insight is finally proving true: "For all its power, Silicon Valley has a great weakness: its soul-crushing suburban sprawl." [The Atlantic]
