Showers for Everyone

A public relations executive and Western Addition resident has launched a new program that turns decommissioned Muni buses into portable shower stalls for the homeless. The program's called Lava Mae, and has already raised $58K so fair in private donations, and will need $318K total annually to operate. When asked why she started the program, Doniece Sandoval said "If we can put gourmet food on wheels and take it anywhere, why not showers?" [SFGate]
