270 Brannan Converts Parking Lot to Office Space in SoMa

[Renderings by steelblue]

Up before the Planning Commission this Thursday is a shiny new office building from developers SKS and Pfau Long Architecture. What was once a surface parking lot and two-story office building at 270 Brannan Street is set to become a seven-story, 65 foot building with 189,000 sq.ft. of office space, with 12 off-street parking spots and a load of bike parking, plus a central glass roof atrium. Since the site is on a down slope, the building actually steps up on the back of the lot, keeping the height on the Brannan Street frontage relatively low. Some folks aren't thrilled by the loss of parking in the super-dense (and growing) SOMA area, but Planning Department staff is on board because the project will provide a bunch of community benefit fees. No word yet on potential office tenants, but promotional materials are aimed towards tech companies.
