Less Muni

Muni ridership was 30 to 40 percent below normal during the holidays, and the transit agency saved $275,000 (instead of the projected $350,000) by running a reduced holiday schedule. "From the results we've seen, there is clearly more opportunities for similar service modifications in the future," said Director of Transit John Haley. Muni might try reducing service the last week of March when public schools are on spring break. [SF Examiner/Lowe R. Llaguno/Shutterstock.com]
