It's quite clear that the San Francisco rental market is hot, hot, hot right now, so here at Curbed we're going to bring you a bevy of rental properties each week for your perusal. This week, we looked at rentals under $1,700, in case you made a New Year's Resolution to live on your own without paying an embarrassing amount of rent (by San Francisco standards).
The Mission: There were actually quite a few studios in the Mission under $1,700, but this one caught our eye with its thoughtful use of space and private outdoor deck. There's also a Murphy bed, so you can flip it up if you're having a serious dance party. The rent is $1,550 per month, which includes laundry in the building but does not include plus-size pants necessary given the proximity to Humphry Slocombe. [craigslist]
The Tenderloin: If you're looking for the gritty city lifestyle with access to great bars and entertainment, look no further than this studio for $1,595. It's on Geary which means rides on the 38, going to HA-RA and Whiskey Thieves, and taking in shows at the Great American Music Hall. There aren't amenities to speak of - no washer/dryer, no common space, no parking, but the unit itself looks large enough with nice hardwood floors and a full kitchen. [craigslist]
Nob Hill: For those who want to live in an iconic San Francisco neighborhood, this studio for $1,695 in Nob Hill is for you. It has charming built-ins and a nicely remodeled kitchen, plus a killer location a block from the top of Nob Hill - Grace Cathedral, Huntington Park, and the Top of the Mark. It looks a little dark, but it doesn't face busy Pine Street so the quiet may be worth only getting "indirect light." [craigslist]
