TICs Shall Not Convert

A proposal to grant San Francisco tenancy-in-common owners a one-time chance "to bypass The City's condo-conversion lottery system by paying a fee was postponed by a Board of Supervisors committee" has failed, at least for now. District supervisors postponed voting on it after an emotional four-hour tenant vs. owner, supe vs. supe forum. According to the Department of Public Works, which oversees conversions, 2,393 units were entered into last year's lottery. Some properties have been in the system as long as seven years.
