Earthquake Territory

The San Francisco Public Press has released a "preliminary list of potentially dangerous "soft-story" buildings" that San Francisco's Department of Building Inspection has been developing since 2009. "We are doing so against the advice of some experts, and the Department of Building Inspection itself." It's a "very rough" list of potentially earthquake-unsafe residential buildings in San Francisco, and inspectors say it has not been verified by actual building inspections. There are 2,929 addresses total, with an estimated 58,000 residents living in those buildings. [San Francisco Public Press]
