This Saturday the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy and other area park groups will be participating in National Public Lands Day, with volunteer opportunities for park cleanup. If you're looking to get your hands dirty, activities will vary from painting pier railings near the Maritime Museum to trash collecting on Baker Beach to improving hiking trails at Tilden Nature Area in Berkeley. There are lots of sites all over the Bay Area looking for volunteers, like Crissy Field, Muir Beach, Lands End, Fort Funston, and Angel Island. The National Public Lands Day site has details on each of the locations. [SF Gate; National Public Lands Day/Photo: Maria Durana]
