UCSF is planning another new academic building at the northeast corner of 4th and 16th Streets to house faculty offices and classrooms, replacing a surface parking lot and a couple temporary trailer buildings. The new design by WRNS Studio will feature lots of slick and user-friendly open space, including a streetside plaza and garden courtyard with outdoor cafe. According to LiveSOMA, folks at last week's Mission Bay CAC meeting were pretty happy with the design, but asked that they integrate more color into the site and provide more bike parking. Construction is set to start in March 2013, and the building should open summer 2015.
