While the arena's design is still in the very early development stage, Snøhetta's Craig Dykers said at a Port of San Francisco citizens advisory committee meeting last night that the piers' south-facing edges, which are sunnier, "should be open, should be about leisure." The Golden State Warriors have committed to building a 17,000- to 19,000-seat arena on Piers 30-32 on the Embarcadero. Snøhetta and AECOM are the project's architects. "Of course the Bay Bridge is a spectacular thing, and the bridge should be a focal point in the design," Dykers added. Plans for what could be constructed on the site should be released sometime next month. [SF Examiner]
