Prettying Up the Larsen Playground

The Larsen Playground (next to 19th Avenue near Ulloa Street) near Stern Grove was once known for the F8 jet that was a play structure there, but in 1993 it was removed because of concerns over lead paint. Now it's home to a sand pit with a couple of swing sets. Thankfully, the playground is fit to be renovated, and the plans include a new plane play structure to be designed by designer Scott Peterson. The proposal (PDF alert!) also includes improving the landscape and pathways, installing lighting and move the entrance to a less busy area.
