Realtor John Barry who lives in the Inner Sunset wants to rename a portion of the Inner Sunset because he thinks the neighborhood is too large. "It's got to be short," he said. "Two syllables and then the word village is about the maximum you want." He likes Park Village, Sunset Village or Gateway Village. The area he wants to rename is between Fifth and 19th avenues and Lincoln Boulevard and Judah Street. Supervisor Christina Olague, who represents the Inner Sunset, doesn't like the idea. "When it comes from a realtor, it raises suspicion with me because I'm not sure what his motive is," she said. She thinks renaming a neighborhood should come naturally from the residents and merchants, not just one realtor who wants to create a microhood. [SFGate]
